As per the Urban Planning, a "Refugee Area" is the area in a building or development refers to designated spaces within a building or complex that are intended to serve as temporary shelters or accommodations for displaced people or at the time of emergency or crises situation in that building.

These areas are planned and designed with the specific purpose of providing refuge and safety to individuals or families who may be forced to evacuate their homes due to natural disasters, conflicts, fire Breaks or any other emergencies.

The inclusion of refugee areas in buildings or developments demonstrates a proactive approach by authorities and developers to address humanitarian concerns and promote community resilience in times of crisis. These designated spaces can play a crucial role in providing support and assistance to vulnerable populations during challenging times. Mostly the Refugee areas are mandatorily has to be constructed to the Building.

The refuge area should be placed after the first 24 meters in a high rise building and after every seven floor builder should provide refuge area. Refuge area will be restricted to just 4% of the habitable area and that area will be free from floor space index.
